Donald Trump gives some relationship advice…

August 29th, 2006

Some times I doubt if Donald Trump actually writes for his own blog, then you read a post like this one about the Paul and Heather McCartney divorce. Who else but the man himself could have written this:

Get a prenuptial agreement. I don’t care how much you love your fiancĂ©; it’s just idiotic to get married without one. Don’t believe me? Ask Paul McCartney what he thinks. I know he wishes he had one.

I guess he would know a lot about pre-nups.

Air Travel Restrictions

August 29th, 2006

I’m planning to fly to Europe in a month and so am interested in what is happening with the air travel restrictions that have been put in place to restrict what passengers can take in carry-on / cabin baggage. Basically, do I have to check my MacBook with my entire life on it and trust that it will arrive safely at the other end without damage.

The clearest explanation I could find was on the BAA website. It is clearly not as bad now as it was a few weeks ago and there doesn’t seem to be any restrictions on notebook / laptop computers. I tried the FAA site in the US to begin with, not even a mention of it on their website that I could find!

Another Great Day

Forecast for today was terrible. The reality? Unbelievable great weather. Another day of great skiing. Now back to clearing the emails.

Paid the Cost to be the Boss

Skiing in the South Island of New Zealand this week, errr, I mean “board” meeting with our Creative Director. Still on the Crackberry if you need me and there is broadband here, but may not be available in the middle of the day.

Google Maps Flight Sim

August 19th, 2006

Goggles is a very cool little Flash game that lets you fly a bi-plane around major cities using Google Maps satellite photos. Brilliant, I wish I had thought of it. Thanks Andy for finding this one.

Automator - Create Keynote file from images

August 12th, 2006

This is for Apple Mac OS X 10.4+ users only, but I’ve created an Automator application that takes a folder of images and puts them into a new Keynote presentation file. Just helped me put together a 75 page presentation in about 10 seconds.

Sell Houses that aren’t for Sale

August 9th, 2006

This is a little old but I want to post this for future reference. SpringWise.com/ideas has a great story on a website in Finland called Igglo which lists all properties allowing you to post an offer online for a house you are interested in, that isn’t even on the market! What a fantastic idea. The site is in Finnish. Zillow.com in the US has a similar idea. Thanks to the trouble ‘n’ strife for sending me this one.

Qantas - Trans-Tasman Bargain

August 8th, 2006

My last flight between Oz and New Zealand was on Air NZ and this was nearly unbearable. To be fair I had just flown from London to Sydney, spent the day there and caught an evening flight, but it was still a tiny Airbus domestic aircraft designed for 1-2 hour flights at the most. Qantas is fantastic value in comparison. I’m right at the front at the aircraft with a spare seat next to me and have just had a decent meal with good Australian Shiraz and a Magnum ice cream for dessert. My only complaint, where is the broadband in your New Zealand Qantas Club Lounge?
