Great article John … and great to see this idea getting accepted by the developer/service provider community. I thought you’ll get 10 - 20 people signing up but great to hear almost 140 developers have signed up so far. We’ll done to NZTA team specially Deidre Hills & Deryk Whyte … other public sector organisations should follow suit and open up some of the valuable data they could open up to public. I think the estimated journey time feed would be a huge step forward, and really look forward to having that feed available in the near year.

Also, NZTA has invested in new traffic management system that will allow them to feed out lot more API feeds in the next future. So 2009 is going to be a very exciting time because there is a huge opportunity for people to create new apps using NZTA data and mashing it up with the likes of Google maps.
